My Whirlpool built dishwasher's clean light is flashing 7 times and won't run. How do I reset the control?

A clean indicator that flashes/blinks 7 times and then repeats, indicates a problem in the dishwasher which should be investigated and not just the control 'reset'! That is why the control will not let the dishwasher start once such a condition is detected.

If the dishwasher's electronic control doesn't detect a water temperature increase during the main wash cycle, that symptom can occur. *Some actual investigation should be undertaken to isolate and correct the cause of the symptom.*

Once corrected, the error display may have to be cleared from the control manually. That can usually be done by putting the unit into diagnostic mode by pressing the key sequence 'Heated Dry, Normal, Heated Dry, Normal' and then pressing cancel.

This problem may be applicable to Estate, Inglis, Ikea, KitchenAid, Kirkland, Roper, Whirlpool and Kenmore dishwasher models built by Whirlpool with model numbers starting 665...
