Hardwick oven temp is lying

DanF -- Thursday, 19 December 2002, at 9:06 a.m.

8-10 yr old Hardwick(by Magic Chef)gas. Model # CPM9841W689DG.

Oven temp has been verified low in relation to digital readout. Set for 350 and will do ~150. Set for 450, will do ~180. It DOES start fine and will cycle fine, just at a much lower temp.

Watcha think Dan? Thermostat? Temp sensor? Have DVOM, clamp on ampmeter, etc. Just point me in the right direction.

I think the oven ignitor is most likely NOT igniting the oven burner within the first 50 seconds (or at all) when the oven is turned on (which it should - see the page linked below) and/or not igniting soon enough again after it has cycled off by the control.

But since you insist the oven burner IS igniting, the only causes I can think of is the oven sensor is WAY out or calibration or the electronic control is defective. The most common oven sensors should be about 1100 ohms when at room temperature.
