Montgomery Ward gas oven: not igniting

Terri -- Thursday, 10 October 2002, at 10:39 p.m.

I have an ancient Montgomery Ward gas oven. I believe the electric ignition is dead. How do I find parts for an oven as old as this? Can it be fixed? Is it even worth it? The wall mounted oven hasn't given me any other problems in 6 years.
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks!

If it has an electronic ignition system, it can't be that old, I don't think they were in use before the 1970's. There shouldn't be too much problems locating replacement parts even for an appliance made in the 70's.

How to go about getting parts for your appliances is described in the Appliance411 'Repair Parts' section. There are a number of avenues described.

: Can it be fixed?

The appliance? Probably. Once the cause or defective component is isolated, it may be able to be corrected or the defective part replaced.

: Is it even worth it?

In most cases , yes it is usually worth while to have just an ignition problem repaired.

You quite possibly would have a difficult time locating a replacement oven which would fit in the exact mounting as the original in which case cabinetry work might also be required to replace it. That's usually a considerable extra expense.

JFYI
