jenn-air A106 cooktop cartridge

Edward -- Saturday, 31 August 2002, at 3:12 p.m.

I have a jenn-air cooktop model C236B with a solid element cartridge model A106. I want to replace the grill cartridge with another solid element cartridge. I understand that the A106 was discontinued. Can I use the radiant element cartridge A122B instead?

I believe that the A122 (JEA8120) radiant element cartridge should work on a model where the A106 also works. If by chance the replacement cartridge has less flat plugin terminals, most Jenn Air service depots should be able to convert it to the system used on your stove model. New cartridges come with only 3 flat terminals, some older range/cooktop models used 4.

Thanks for the reply. My stove has 4 flat terminals with a round terminal in the middle. However the A106 only has 3 flat terminals (flat, flat round, flat, empty). Will this be the same configuration for the JEA8120? Would the wattage of both elements compatible with the C236B? Much obliged.

All the Jenn Air ranges/cooktops which accept different cartridges have female cartridge receptacles with one round and 4-flat slots whether all 4-flat slots are actually connected to wires or not. If a 3 blade cartridge works where you want to install the radiant A122 cartridge, it should work there as well (mostly likely without requiring any modifications at all).

The wattage of the elements has nothing to do with its compatibility. All Jenn Air cartridges that physically fit your model are designed to be interchangeable (except for the 3 or 4 flat terminal wiring thing, which could be converted if necessary).

Hi, purchases an A122B from the Repair Clinic and it works fine where my A106 cartridge works. Thanks for the info.
